Here is my Martian tree. This guy is a little tricky because of the constant tight spaces. As a result, he is progressing a little slower than expected.
The delay could also be due to the fact that the weather has been so nice - who wants to be surrounded by glass and glue?

Chris - it looks better in person - I promise!
ReplyDeleteSarah...it was fun to talk to you on the phone yesterday (I'm Julie's mom). Julie sent me to your blog so I can see what you do! I am so thrilled to see you wonderful work! I am going to book mark this blog and come back often to see what you are up to! This is not anything I've ever done. But ever since I read Stephanie Kelos book Broken for You I have had a total appreciation for mosaics! She used old bits of china in hers (whereas I understand you use colored glass mostly). If you haven't read that book, please do...I'd like your comments. I posted a few photos of arts and crafts projects here at the cabin today...but neither of Julie's boys are in those photos unfortunately. When I take photos later of all the finished projects I will have them in that one.
ReplyDeleteI love your grandma's comments...you have to forgive us grannies. We say what ever falls out of our mouths. No mincing words with grannies! Hahaha.
Sarah! I love it already! Believe me, I appreciate a work-in-progress, and I can envision a magnificent Martian forest made of glass, glue, and grout. I'm glad that you're challenging yourself with the tight spaces. Let it be an enjoyable exercise in patience, like a bonsai tree -- but from Mars and made of glass. I'm honored that you're making this for me (ok fine, for my cube) and I hope you're having fun doing it. THANK YOU!
